Here is the process to building your new asphalt road,
parking lot or driveway!

First...Excavation

Depending on the project, existing material and road traffic on the proposed area, excavation may be required.  The recommended amount for a driveway is 12" - 8" of pit run and 3/4" crushed gravel, for a road 24" - 12" of pit run and 3/4" crushed gravel (fabric may be required) and for a parking lot 18" - 12" of pit run and 3/4" crushed gravel. If pit run has been placed on your area prior to receiving an estimate approximately 3" of 3/4" gravel will be needed to bring the area to grade.

Second....Compaction

The pit run and 3/4" crushed gravel will be compacted to 95%  with a roller. A water truck will be used when placing excess gravel.

Note...Having the right base material placed and compaction is key to your asphalt holding up over the years!  Also sterilization may be needed if weeds are existing prior to asphalt paving.

Third....Asphalt paving

Placing asphalt to the prepped area with a asphalt paving machine.  We always pave driveway's at 3" thick, parking lot's typically are 3" - 4" thick and roads are 4" of asphalt in a single lift or two 2" lifts with tack oil applied after the first lift.

Forth and final step....Compaction of asphalt

The asphalt will be compacted with an asphalt roller to 95% compaction. 

Note....The new asphalt must be free of traffic for 24 hours.  Keep in mind that it will take asphalt approximately three months for reach a full cure.
